The
petition for the dogs “It’s time-Ya es hora” started Saturday 18th April 2009 in Son Ferrer/Calvia
and it has now been going for 16 months. The idea was to end the campaign in
April 2010 but the time is not right (with all the politics turmoil in Palma and not too long to go for new elections) and we want more
people to sign up so…the campaign is still moving on. I’m very grateful how it is progressing forward but I also know that we can do
much better, so if you haven’t sign yet please do.
We now got more than 2500 signatures; and more to be counted. As I always say: together
we will achieve our goal so please keep up the good work!!
For those
of you who still have not signed and who would like to join in by signing and
collecting signatures I would be very happy to hear from you; because it’s not
one person alone who’s going to change things but all of us together. We could and should, with
a bit of help, get much more signatures in since it is easily 250.000 homes
with a dog or two…in it. The aim is to provoke changes and for that we do need to be seen and
heard…all of us together. Nothing gets changed by just talking about
it…so don’t wait, sign today!
It’s time, is the campaign name for the town
hall of Calviá, and all the others around Mallorca, to start including the
”other citizens” in the municipality -the dogs- in a way they deserve! With
this signed petition, YOU are asking for the following steps to be taken in
favor of the dogs:
• It’s time –for the dogs to be able to enjoy the few
green areas available, to be able to walk, play and integrate-socialize
• It’s time –for the dogs to enjoy the beaches; 1
selected beach and the rest with fixed hours during summer and all the beaches
during October - end of April
• It’s time –for them to be able to go with the owners
in public areas, in buses, taxis, have more offers in hotels etc
• It’s time –to set up more litter bins and plastic
bags for helping the owners to pick up the excrement; at least around the
streets
• It’s time –for money to be spent on setting up
subsidized courses, in various languages, for the owners and their pets;
teaching the owners to better understand what the dogs’ needs are and for the
dogs to improve their behavior in between themselves and to become more
sociable
• It’s time –for improvement of the laws to better
protect the dogs/animals in our society
• It’s time -to understand the value of pets in our
society as companionship to the people, in creating communications between
ourselves and as a great future tourism in our community; which is a reason for
investing in them. The owners and their pets = innovative tourism for Calviá,
and for the island as a whole, and they will spend money; so make the most of
it!

Español: La idea era de terminar la campaña en abril 2010
pero no es el tiempo adecuado (por los problemas políticos que ha "pasado" por Palma y dentro de nada habrá elecciones) y queremos que más gente firme así que
la campaña sigue en pie. Para que sepáis, los que habéis firmado y los que
hagáis, ya estamos utilizando las firmas en reuniones en Palma para presionar
en el tema. Tenemos más de 2500 firmas, y más esperando por contar, pero se
puede conseguir muchas más, hay fácilmente 250.000 hogares con perros. Todos
sabemos que para que nos escuchen bien tiene que ser muchas así que por favor
firmad hoy y o ayúdenos a recoger más firmas, así lograremos nuestro objetivo,
una mejora para todos.
¡Ya es
hora es una campaña para que el ayuntamiento de Calviá, y los ayuntamientos de
toda Mallorca, incluyan a los ”otros ciudadanos” del municipio, los perros, tal como se merecen! Con esta petición, USTED está pidiendo las siguientes
medidas para los perros:
• Ya es hora –de que los perros puedan disfrutar de
las pocas zonas verdes que hay para poder pasear, jugar y relacionarse
• Ya es hora –de que los perros también puedan
disfrutar de las playas; en todas desde octubre hasta abril y en verano en una
playa y en el resto según horario fijado
• Ya es hora –de que puedan acompañar a sus dueños en
las zonas públicas, ir en los autobuses, taxis, tener más oferta en hoteles
etc.
• Ya es hora –de que haya ayuda para los propietarios,
en forma de más papeleras y bolsas para recoger el excremento, principalmente
en las calles
• Ya es hora –de que mejoren las leyes a la hora de
proteger a los perros y a todos los animales
• Ya es hora –de que se gaste dinero en cursos
subvencionados, en varios idiomas, para los dueños y las mascotas: para que los
dueños aprendan qué necesidades tienen sus perros, para mejorar la conducta
entre los perros y para que sean más sociables
• Ya es hora –de que entiendan el valor de las
mascotas como turistas para el municipio, la isla, y por eso hay que también
invertir dinero en ellos. Los dueños y sus mascotas = un turismo
innovador y con dinero para gastar; ¡aprovéchalo!
